Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has officially announced that as of yesterday, February 15, anyone entering Canada through a land border will be required to show a negative PCR-based COVID-19 test or face a fine which could be up to $2,370.
Trudeau also confirmed that while customs officers can not send Canadians back to the U.S. if they don’t have a test because they are technically on Canadian soil, they will be subject to extensive follow up by health officials if a test is not produced. Snowbirds are also subject to this new requirement.
